Energy Smarting J Street?

April 16th, 2008 · 6 Comments

To say that the Israeli-Palestinian, Israeli-Arab conflict has been an intractable element of international politics is an understatement along the lines of saying that George the W’s Administration hasn’t been weak on Global Warming. It is hard to state these sad truths wrongly enough. Sadly, the United States’ ability to be a positive player in […]

Bush to push GW Bill? Hell freezing over?

April 14th, 2008 · 2 Comments

The rumor is out. W is going to push for Global Warming legislation.  According to that font of journalistic wisdom, The Washington Times, President Bush is poised to change course and announce as early as this week that he wants Congress to pass a bill to combat global warming, and will lay out principles for […]

The Five stages: Denial to Determination

April 12th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Acceptance of and understanding of Global Warming is an overwhelming action. Truly understanding what we (all of the US and all of us) face commands decisions about how one will interact with the globe from that moment on. Now, for better or worse, there are many (often illegitimate) reasons for skepticism about Global Warming. One […]

Dominion CEO Disconnected from Reality

April 10th, 2008 · Comments Off on Dominion CEO Disconnected from Reality

“Those who seek to demonize coal or eliminate its use are, quite honestly, disconnected from reality.”  Dominion Resources CEO Thomas F Farrell, II  What is the reality that we are disconnected from? The 3.5 million tons of smog-forming nitrogen oxide, 10 million tons of sulfur dioxide, 48 tons of mercury, 56 tons of arsenic, 134,000 […]

Lawsuits can’t wait until 2009 …

April 9th, 2008 · Comments Off on Lawsuits can’t wait until 2009 …

When it comes to law, my favorite website is without doubt Warming Law, which provides a high quality and thoughtful look at climate issues from a legal and judicial standpoint. One recent post deal with the question of ‘why bother’ with lawsuits and not simply wait until Bush W heads off into the sunset.

Antarctic is NOT cooling!!! … expanded

April 7th, 2008 · Comments Off on Antarctic is NOT cooling!!! … expanded

Global Warming “Deniers” and “Skeptics” trot out any and every true item in twisted truthiness discussions that are neither true nor truthful. With areas getting more snowfall and uncertainty over data (after all, how many penguins are sitting and checking the thermometer every morning?), “Antarctica is cooling” has been a frequent denier/skeptic truthiness line to […]

Antarctic is NOT cooling!!!

April 7th, 2008 · Comments Off on Antarctic is NOT cooling!!!

After the fold, take a look at the graphic.  From NASA, this is a clear and simple path toward refutation of another of the deniers/skeptics misleading truthiness. Yes, there are a few spots (and, almost literally, spots) in Antarctica that are cooling but those are (quite sadly) overwhelmed by the areas warming.

A Dream Reborn … Green

April 7th, 2008 · Comments Off on A Dream Reborn … Green

Forty years ago, an asassin’s bullet ended Martin Luther King, Jr’s life. Left behind has been a powerful legacy, one that has helped shift the American ethos toward something better than what might have been without King. Within his legacy are some of the most recognized words of American history … I have a dream […]
